When working on Debian, I always try to keep the system consistent. When I modify any thing in the system, I want to keep this modification through any update/upgrade process. So here is my work.

Most of my work is done on IBM Blade HS21 or some System x3550, System x3650 or System x336. The underline storage system is a DS4700.

Installation

To make multipath working on Debian, you'll need 'multipath-tools-initramfs' and 'multipath-tools' packages. But as said in 'mulitpath-tools-initramfs' bug's list, you need to correct '/usr/share/initramfs/hooks/multipath_hook'.

When you look at the bug list <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=multipath-tools-initramfs;dist=unstable>, you see there are some tools missing.

Safely change a kernel boot option

When changing specific kernel boot option in grub, you might want to keep this even after a kernel upgrade (which rebuild the grub configuration).
So you'll have to go to /boot/grub/menu.lst and find the kopt comment in this file :
